The Colombia Discovery tour in a few words:
A selection of the key destinations in Colombia and the most iconic tourist sites. It is essentially a discovery tour of the vibrant cities but also of the peaceful villages of the Andes. To conclude this tour, a few moments of relaxation by the Caribbean Sea.

Bogota -> Coffee region -> Medellin -> Cartagena -> San Bernardo Archipelago (3 days and 2 nights in option)

Discover Bogota’s eastern Andes and its surrounding flagship destinations such as Zipaquira and Guatavita. Travel through the Western Andes from the Coffee region to Medellin, including the Cocora Valley and Guatapé. Complete your journey with a visit to the beautiful Cartagena and a stay on the paradise archipelago of San Bernardo.

This tour does not require any special physical condition. Excursions can be adjusted to suit the physical fitness of the participants. Please note that the altitude in the region of Bogota and the high temperatures in Cartagena may cause discomfort to some people.

Day 1: Landing in Bogota
Private transfer from the El Dorado International Airport to your hotel located in the historic neighborhood “La Candelaria”. Tour Colombia.
Day 2: Visit of Bogota
La Candelaria: Walking tour around La Candelaria and its 400 years old streets. Visit of museums such as the Botero Museum, exhibiting a large collection of paintings and sculptures, and the Museum of Gold, displaying the largest collection of pre-Columbian goldsmithing in the world. Cerro Monserrate: You will reach Bogota’s highest viewpoint, Monserrate Hill, where you will observe the vastness of the Colombian capital.
Day 3: Surroundings of Bogota
Lake Guatavita: A short drive north of Bogota will take you to Lake Guatavita, a high-altitude lake located in a sub-paramo ecosystem, where the Muiscas (local indigenous tribe), would throw gold objects and emeralds into the lake. A ceremony that formed the legend of the mythical El Dorado. Cathedral of Zipaquira: This famous cathedral is located within a former salt mine in the small town of Zipaquira. You will tour this architectural prowess showing astonishing religious sculptures made of salt and marble, in the tunnels leading to the heart of the mine and its central nave.
Day 4: Flight to the Coffee Region - Salento
In the morning, a transport will take you to the Bogota El Dorado airport. You will then board a flight bound for Pereira, capital city of the Risaralda department, a region part of the famous Coffee Triangle. Upon arrival, a second transport will drive you to your hotel in Salento, the most iconic village of the Coffee Region.
Day 5: Cocora Valley
During this day, you will visit the famous Cocora Valley, an amazing area composed of various 80-meter-high palm trees. You will have the option between several hiking trails that will take you to different viewpoints across the valley.
Day 6: Finca de Café (Coffee Plantation) – Quindío Botanical Garden
In the morning, you will visit a typical coffee plantation applying the techniques of permaculture. More than just a Finca de Café where you can observe the entire production process, the owners of this coffee farm also grow different species of plants and fruits for environmental sustainability. In the afternoon, you will discover the diversity of Colombia’s natural heritage by visiting the Quindío Botanical Garden. A place gathering many different species of plants from all around the country and hundreds of colorful butterflies.
Day 7: Road to Medellin
You will leave the Coffee Region and take the road toward Medellin. The “Paisa City” is one of the most famous cities in Colombia and a point of national pride for its innovative architecture and urbanism. Transfer to your hotel located in the most attractive neighborhood of the “city of everlasting spring”, El Poblado.
Day 8: Visit of Medellin
You´ll walk through the busy streets downtown to reach the city´s Plaza Mayor and the Park of Lights, where huge poles enlighten the place during the night. From here, you will enter an area composed of some of the city's most modern buildings and visit the Barefoot Park, a nice and quiet place where people come to relax and wet their feet in a water stream surrounded by bamboo trees. You will then visit Pueblito Paisa, a hill within the city. From this high ground, you will have a 360° view on Medellin.
Day 9: Surroundings of Medellin
You will take the road to a small village located 2 hours away from Medellin. On your way, you will make a stop to the Rock of Peñol, a 220-meter-high rock and its 725 stairs. From the top of this gigantic megalith, one can enjoy “the most beautiful view in the world”, a 360° landscape over Lake Guatapé. You will then visit Guatapé where every single building shows different patterns. The owner of each house originally decorated his walls, turning the city into an open-air art gallery.
Day 10: Flight to Cartagena
In the morning, a private transport will take you to the José Maria Cordova Airport of Medellin. You will then board a plane bound for Cartagena, the Jewel of the Caribbean and one of the most essential places to visit in Colombia. Upon arrival, a second car will drive you to your hotel located within the walled city.
Day 11: Visit of Cartagena
On your second day in the stunning Cartagena, you will discover the historical and architectural heritage of this centuries old city. Cartagena is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The city was a major hub at the time of the Spanish conquests and many riches left for Europe from its port. In the morning, you will visit the walled city’s landmarks, it’s churches, colonial buildings and splendid squares. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit different sites located outside the walls and dating back to the age of piracy.
Day 12: Free Day in Cartagena Or Transfer to the Airport
A day of complete freedom to visit the beautiful Cartagena and around as you wish.
Days 13 and 14: Leisure in a Caribbean Archipelago
During the last days of your trip across Colombia, you will spend time on one of the Islands off the shores of Cartagena. You will relax in a hotel in the San Bernardo archipelago before heading back home.
Day 15: Back to Bogota
On the last day of you journey, you will be transferred back to Cartagena by boat. Upon Arrival, a second transport will pick you up at the port and take you to Cartagena's Rafael Nuñez airport. You will the board a plane to Bogota where you will be able to check your luggage for your international flight. This last step of the tour will mark the end of your trip around Colombia, the country of Magical Realism.
