The Caño Cristales tour in a few words:
First, a flight is necessary to reach la Macarena, a small town located at the edge of The Serrania la Macarena National Natural Park. A boat, and then a car trip, allow to reach the starting point of the excursions to Caño Cristales.

Highlights of this tour:
Discovery of Caño Cristales, the most beautiful river in the world, showing 5 colours (green, yellow, red, blue, and black). Hiking a stunning nature and bathing in certain areas of the river.
Visiting season:
This tour is only available from June to October (included), the season when the algae and moss give the river its colours. The rest of the year, access to the site is not allowed.
Physical condition:
The hikes have different difficulty levels, depending on the trail. According to the condition of the terrain, the park authorities will decide which trail will be followed. It is recommended to visitors to notify the guides of any particular physical condition, in order to better decide which trail to follow.

Day 1, Flight to la Macarena – First hike in the Park:
A flight of approximately 50 minutes will take you to La Macarena, a small town located near the Serrania la Macarena, where the Caño Cristales river is flowing. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a first hike to Caño Pedras, a nearby river similar to Caño Cristales.
Day 2, First Hike to Caño Cristales:
In the morning, you will take a boat along the Guayabero river to la Cachivera. There you will take car for about 30 minutes to the Park entrance. Depending on the weather conditions, you hike a particular trail decided by the local authorities, along the Caño Cristales river. Certain trails will allow you to swim in the river.
Day 3, Last hike in the Park - Back to Bogota:
In the morning, you will enjoy a last hike to Caño Cristalitos, a nearby river similar to Caño Cristales. In the afternoon you will board a flight back to Bogota or Medellin.
