Hiking the Nevados Park in a few words:
The first day starts with a car transfer from Salento to the Cocora valley. This valley is the entrance to the Nevados National Natural Park. A hike across the Natural Park will then follow. Hiking the Nevados Park allows the discovery of various natural landscapes and high Andean ecosystems.

Highlights of this tour:
First and foremost, the Cocora Valley is one of the most iconic natural sites in Colombia. The typical Andean ecosystem named paramo is home to unique plants, the frailejones. And finally, a panoramic view of the Colombian western Andes volcanoes.
Visiting season:

Physical condition:
This tour includes mainly a high-altitude hike (~5 000 meters). Therefore, this activity in not recommended to participants with cardiac or respiratory conditions. The accommodation is quite basic; the nights are spent in remote farmhouses, among locals. Daily hikes from 4 to 7 hours depending on walking pace and conditions of the terrain.

Day 1: Salento - Los Nevado National Natural Park
Early in the morning, a guide will pick you up at your hotel. You will then board a Jeep Willy, typical transportation in the region to reach the famous Cocora Valley, The entrance to the Nevado’s trails. You will start a hike across the mountain to la Finca Argentina, a farm where you will spend the first night.
Day 2: Salento - Los Nevado National Natural Park - High Andean Forests
You will hike the first peak and follow the Cardenas Canyon, cross the Quindio wetlands and the Paramo, a typical Andean high-altitude ecosystem. Then you will reach a second farm at the foot of the Tolima Volcano, Finca la Playa, where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Glacier
You will start a hike toward the base of the glacier. On your way up, you will enjoy some of the most amazing landscapes in the region and you might have the chance to spot several bird species including the majestic Andean Condor. Then you will head back toward the farm for a last night in the mountains.
Day 4: Back to Salento
On your way down to Salento, you will stop at the Acaime Reserve, a sanctuary for Colibris. End of the tour.
