03 Nov Measures Against COVID in Colombia
Find out more about biosafety measures against covid in Colombia for a resumption of tourism.
From the moment the lockdown was lifted on September 1, 2020, traffic through Colombia increased sharply. As the months of confinement came to an end, many citizens headed to the numerous tourist destinations throughout the country. Since this flow facilitated the spread of the virus, the government introduced sanitary measures against Covid 19 in Colombia. The protocols put in place apply not only to domestic travellers, but also to foreign travellers.
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS RETURNING TO COLOMBIA
Since 21 September, international air traffic have gradually resumed between Colombia and certain countries. Flights between the country’s main cities such as Bogota, Medellin, Cali and Cartagena are once again receiving travellers from the following countries: United States, Ecuador, Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Officially, this list includes more countries, but it is not always reciprocal. Moreover, the commercial benefit of the airlines may also delay the reopening of certain international routes.
Finally, the resurgence of the pandemic in Europe has put the restoration of flights towards the old continent on hold. Today only humanitarian and repatriation flights are authorised between Colombia and some European countries.
NEGATIVE PCR TEST AND ENTRY FORM TO COLOMBIA
From now on, the presentation of a passport and a visa are no longer the sole documents to be presented to the migration authorities. Indeed, a negative PCR test carried out within 96 hours prior to departure of the international flight is now required to enter Colombia. According to the resolution 1972 issued on November 4, 2021, the government no longer requires PCR testing to enter Colombia.

Nevertheless, migration services do require travellers to complete an online pre-registration form to speed up the entry process. This form can be accessed following this link. Please note that you will need to be able to justify this procedure at check-in, boarding, and most importantly, to the migration officer
BIOSECURITY PROTOCOL IN COLOMBIA
For a recovery of the activity, while minimising the risks of contamination, the Colombian government is now asking the actors in the field of tourism (hotels, restaurants, transporters, tourist sites, etc.) to set up a biosecurity protocol adapted to their operation. This protocol includes, among other things, the supply of hydro-alcoholic gel, use of masks, and temperature monitoring for employees as well as guests. It should be noted that these control measures aim to stem the spread of the virus.
